Nissan Sylphy launched in Thailand
Nissan Thailand has officially launched the new Sylphy sedan in the Thai market. The Sylphy will be a important model for Nissan and is expected to help it achieve midterm business goals.
The Nissan Thailand aims to achieve a 10% of the country’s domestic automobile market share this year, thanks to the government’s ‘First Car’ scheme.
The Sylphy, a global model that was first unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year, replaces the ageing Tiida, which hasn’t been too successful for Nissan in the highly competitive Thai compact-car market dominated by the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic.
Thailand is the second market to receive the Nissan Sylphy after China. It is a global car and will also be launched in in Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. The Nissan Sylphy will arrive in 120 countries and its sales are expected to reach 550,000 units annually by 2014.
The sedan is available in a choice of two engines:1.6 HR16DE, 4 cylinders, 16 valves with Dual Injector System and Twin C-VTC (Twin Continuously Variable-valve Timing Control System) engine. The New HR16DE engine is fuel efficient and provides better response to all types of driving.
For performance oriented drivers the car also comes with a 1.8 MRA8DE engine
The Sylphy is offered in four variants: 1.6 E CVT, 1.6 V CVT, 1.8 V CVT and 1.8 V NAVI CVT and is priced between Bt746,000 and Bt931,000.
