First Spy Shots of the Beat EV Surface

Most of us may have forgotten about the Beat Electric, but GM certainly hasn’t. After the company had showcased the Beat EV in India, it went tight-lipped on the development of the vehicle which gave rise to a fair amount of criticism. Now an year later, the first ever spy-shots of the car have surfaced. Thanks to our friends from WorldCarFans, who snapped the car after it apparently came out from a car wash.

One can see that the company had been carrying out the development of the vehicle under highly guarded circumstances. With time, the car has developed some changes which evident from the spy-shots.

Unlike its gasoline powered sibling, the Beat EV gets a redesigned front fascia. The front bumper now sports a different set of fog lamp clusters, whereas the rear no more houses the exhaust-pipe.

The radiator grille has been blocked by a sheet of chrome, and now resembles to the one seen on the Volt. The tail-lamps too have been tweaked a little but they look so similar to the current ones that they have been left unnoticed by most of the blogs.

Overall, the changes are subtle and may not get noticed by everyone. The idea behind them is to separate the electric version from its regular counterparts, which they manage to do well.

Power flows in from a permanent magnet electric motor that produces 114 HP (85kw/116PS). Further technical details remain scarce at this point andare likely to be revealed in due course. Although the chances of an Indian-debut look thin, Chevrolet definitely has a potential rival to the Reva NXR in hand. If priced well, the Beat EV is sure to fetch numbers in the Indian market.
