2013 Geneva Motor Show: Suzuki unveils all new SX4

Suzuki unveiled the all new SX4 its first C-segment crossover at the 83rd Geneva International Motor Show. The new SX4 grows in all dimensions and is based on the S-Cross concept showcased at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September. The Compact SUV is gaining a lot of importance as an alternative to the sedans, and has forced all the manufactures to launch a model in this segment.

The SX4 S-Cross will replace the current SX4 and is based on the new platform which will also underpin the new SX4 sedan due in 2014. The SX4 has grown in all dimensions and gets well-appointed interiors with the waterfall layout dashboard.

The SX4 S-Cross will be available in a choice of 1.6 petrol or 1.6 diesel engines. Performance figures are not revealed but the company claims the SUV to be a car that represents new possibilities on four wheels and greater freedom for drivers.

Power to all wheels will be provided by its new ALLGRIP 4WD technology which offers four selectable modes: Auto, Sport, Snow and lock.

The luggage space of 430 litres can be further expanded by simply folding the rear seat completely. A distinctive feature is the full length 1000 mm panaromic sunroof. The design is a world first as both the glass panels can be slided.

The new SX4 will be manufactured at the Magyar plant in Hungary. Europe will get the new crossover in autumn and will be shipped from the Hungary which will serve as the mother plant. The Crossover will also be exported to various other countries.

Suzuki also showcased the Swift, Splash, Alto, Jimny, Grand Vitara, and SX4 (current gen) at the auto show.
