Audi TT Coupe launched in India

German Luxury car maker Audi launched its sports car TT in India, at a starting price of Rs. 48.36 lakh (ex-showroom). Audi will start selling the car from June this year and it will be sold as a completely built unit (CBU). The price is announced considering the 2012 budget.

The total size of this premium sports car market in India is 200-250 units per year. Audi is expecting to sell over 50 units of the TT Coupe in India by end of 2012.

The new Audi TT is powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine which produces 211 PS of peak power between 4300 – 6000 RPM and 350 Nm of peak torque between 1600 – 4000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6 speed S-tronic automatic gearbox. The TT is equipped with Audi’s patented Quattro All Wheel drive technology.

The car can zoom past 100 km in just 5.6 seconds and hit a max speed of 250km/hr.

Internationally the TT is also available in a 2.0 litre diesel avatar and more powerful RS variant. We could expect the range to be expanded in the coming months as Audi is getting very aggressive in the Indian market.

The next big launch is the Q3SUV which will help the brand to reach masses further. The A4 facelift is also in the pipeline which could also see a launch in the next couple of months.
