Mercedes-Benz B-Class launch in India by 2012, A-Class in 2013

Mercedes-Benz launched latest B-Class at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show. The new hatchback will be the temporary answer to BMW X1 and will help the company to increase its volumes. The new B-Class measures: length/width/height: 4359/1786/1557 millimetres. The new B-Class features new petrol and diesel engines as well as new manual and automatic transmissions.

The new four-cylinder petrol engines (internal designation M270) mark the launch of a completely new engine series. The new four-cylinder engines have been designed for both transverse and longitudinal installation.

The new B-Class will be available with a displacement of 1.6 litres, as the B 180 rated at 90 kW (122 hp) and the B 200 with an output of 115 kW (156 hp). The maximum torque of 200 and 250 Nm respectively is available from an engine speed of 1250 rpm.

The 2012 A-Class will ride on the new MFA platform which also underpins the B-Class. Mercedes has already confirmed that the 5-door version will make its world premiere at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.

The Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class made its debut at both the 2011 New York and Shanghai Auto Shows. The Concept A-Class features an expressive and athletic design. Technical highlights include a new turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, a dual clutch transmission and a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist.

As a world first in the compact class, the concept car features a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist, which lowers the risk of rear end collisions. This assistance system gives a visual and acoustic warning to an inattentive driver and prepares Brake Assist for a precise braking response.

The new 2012 A-Class has several design cues from the F800 Style concept which debuted at the 2010 Geneva motor show. Mercedes-Benz showcased the new A-Class concept at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi in India.
