Official Press release

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, today announced the launch ofits compact luxury SUV – the Audi Q3 in India. This youngest member of the Audi Q family was unveiled at the Auto Expo in January 2012, and is one of the most awaited vehicles to hit the Indian roads in recent times.

Equipped with a powerful and efficient 2.0 TDI quattroengine, the Audi Q3 is priced at Rs 26,21,000 onwards (Ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the base grade and Rs 31,49,000 onwards (Ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the high grade, and will be available at all 19 Audi dealerships in India.

“The launch of the Audi Q3 is in line with our top-down strategy for India. The Q3 is immediately recognizable as the youngest member of the Audi Q family. Now we are starting the next chapter of our success story: As a true luxury SUV, the Audi Q3 leads the way for the Four Rings to enter a new segment in India, with ever increasing customer groups demanding for luxury mobility in a compact form.

Every aspect of the Q3 showcases Audi technology – the body, the drivetrain, the chassis and the assistance and multimedia systems. Many of these elements come directly from the luxury class. At present, only 500 Audi Q3’s will be available for initial booking.  We are confident that Audi Q3 will repeat the success of Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 and further consolidate our leadership position in the luxury SUV segment“, said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

The Audi Q3 is a sporty, efficient and versatile urban vehicle. Every aspect of the Audi Q3 showcases Audi technology – the body, the drivetrain, the chassis and the assistance and multimedia systems and of course it has ‘quattro’. In fact, it is the ‘only’ compact SUV in its segment that offers quattro. These qualities make it an apt choice for the younger customer.

The Audi Q3 positioning of “start young” clearly defines the category and segment that we are targeting. It is a car that inducts you into the Q life; a life of excitement, glamour and glitz. Going by the initial excitement that the Audi Q3 has raked up it is clear that it is not only the high-flying jetsetters who are driving in the Audi luxury but it is also a hot favourite with the young go-getters that want a slice of the Q life“, said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

The brand with the four rings continues to be the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India with Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 and in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi R8 Spyder, Audi RS5 and the recently launched Audi TT Coupe.

Audi continued to perform successfully in India as it marked up a sale of 450 cars in May 2012 – a growth of 10 percent over the same period last year (May 2011: 408 cars). The brand with the four rings grew by 37 percent during January to May 2012, delivering 3281 vehicles as compared to 2394 vehicles delivered during the same period last year.

Audi India plans to expand its network to 25 dealerships by the end of 2012 from its existing 19 centres. Audi recently opened new showrooms in Coimbatore, Delhi West Nagpur and its second in Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal. Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Lucknow and Mumbai South among others.

The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi S4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q3, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi TT Coupe, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi South, Delhi West, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Nagpur, Pune and Surat.
