Will Toyota Avanza make it to India?
Toyota has seen sales surge by 100% in 2011 ever since the Etios and Etios Liva were launched in the Indian market. The Etios platform is here to stay and could see more products built on the same.
There was some news on the blogosphere of Toyota developing an MPV on the Etios platform.
With India’s largest selling car maker Maruti Suzuki entering the compact MPV segment with Ertiga there could be a possibility of more auto makers following the suite. We feel it is the ripe time for Toyota to launch the Avanza MPV in the Indian market.
Currently the Avanza is sold in the South East Asian markets like Malaysia, Vietnam & Indonesia which is also a biggest market for MPV. The Avanza is the segment leader in Indonesia followed by Daihatsu Xenia which also shares the same platform.
The Avanza is equipped with 1.3 & 1.5 petrol engines mated to a 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic gear box.
The feature list includes
- 2 DIN Audio System (1.5) and 1 DIN Audio CD MP3 (1.3G) with USB, Aux-Jack and i-Pod compatibility
- New Meter Combination and instrument console
- Tilt Steering
- Steering mounted audio controls
- Rear Parking Sensors
- Roof mounted A/C vents
- ABS & EBD
- Dual SRS Air bags
