Chevrolet Sail and MPV unveiled
Chevrolet India unveiled the Sail hatchback and the new MPV at the Auto Expo 2012. The new products will be the first from Chevy India ‘s India’s Chinese partner SAIC.

The Sail hatchback is built on a new global small passenger car platform that GM created especially for the world’s emerging markets The Sail hatchback’s exterior and interior design exudes Chevrolet’s sports styling. The Sail could see a mid 2012 launch.
The front view features Chevrolet’s signature styling cues, including a dual-port grille adorned with a gold bowtie.
The hood features muscular cut-lines that provide a three-dimensional look. In line with Chevrolet’s global focus on safety, the Sail hatchback features safety cage body construction supported by the extensive use of high-strength steel.
The Sail has an overall length of 3947mm means the car will be under 4-metres and will be powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol engine currently available in the Beat but with a higher tune of 81bhp power . The Sail will also get the most renowned Indian diesel engine, Fiat’s 1.3 Multijet which will be launched later.

The new Chevrolet MPV is designed for those who want a spacious, comfortable and well-styled vehicle to enjoy life with their loved ones. It offers space for large families, with flexi-seating and a choice of seven or eight seats. The MPV will also see a mid 2012 launch and will be sold initially with a 1.4-litre petrol engine churning out 94.6bhp.
Among its comfort amenities is dual-row air-conditioning. It also provides outstanding ride and handling. High-strength and ultra-high-strength steel are used in the body and chassis. In addition, the MPV comes with a host of active and passive safety features such as dual air bags, safety belts with load limiters, anti-lock brakes and tubeless tyres.
The Lotus engineering department worked on the MPV to fine-tune the chassis.
