Fiat’s new strategy for India

Fiat India launched the all new 2012 edition of the Punto hatchback and Linea sedan in India.

The cars now get new features and few mechanical updates like upgraded air-conditioning systems and better ground clearance.

Some few pointers which the Italian car maker will do to improve its sales performance

The first Fiat cafe will be opened in the capital city, Delhi followed by Pune.

Fiat, which operates in India through a 50:50 partnership with Tata Motors, plans to set up 22 exclusive showrooms for Fiat cars this year, primarily in big cities. The focus this year is to expand our dealership network across India.

The company’s existing dealers operating showrooms that sell Tata and Fiat cars under one roof will open Fiat exclusive outlets during the course of the year.

The company is currently working on a plan to launch a small car in the country. Fiat evaluating the prospects for bringing a new car cheaper than its existing Punto to India from its global portfolio and customise it for the market here.

Highlights: Model Year 2012 range

·         Fully refreshed interiors with new interior theme colours and an all new exterior colour i.e, Oceanic Blue

·         Bringing segment first features for Linea – Rain sensing wipers & auto switch on/off headlamps,(continuing the past tradition of being the first to bring innovative features to the segment e.g., Blue & Me and MY Car)

·         More features & equipment across the range with much higher value to the customer at every price point

·         Significant Quality improvements on key attributes like ground clearance, air conditioning and NVH for diesel versions
