Lottery Details and Outcomes
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) wrapped up a three‑day lottery for 332 residential plots in the second phase of its Anant Nagar Housing Scheme. The event ran from 8 to 10 September 2025 at the Mercury Hall of Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, with every draw broadcast on LDA’s official YouTube channel for full transparency.
Applicants had to register online between 11 July and 10 August, and the response was overwhelming: 8,568 people signed up, each hoping to secure a plot that fit their budget and family size. On the opening day, 56 plots were awarded – 19 of the larger 450 sq m Type A units and 37 of the 162 sq m Type D units. Around 1,400 participants were present for the first draw, pulling their own lottery slips under the watchful eyes of officials.
Day 2, held on 9 September, shifted focus to the mid‑range categories: 288 sq m Type B and 200 sq m Type C plots. A total of 155 plots were on the table, and the same live‑streamed, applicant‑driven process ensured each name had an equal shot. The final day, 10 September, dealt with the smallest units – 112.5 sq m Type E plots – allocating the remaining 121 plots.
Deputy Secretary Madhavesh Kumar broke down the overall distribution: 121 plots of 112.5 sq m, 37 of 162 sq m, 50 of 200 sq m, 105 of 288 sq m, and 19 of 450 sq m. LDA Vice‑Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar confirmed that the schedule was communicated to applicants well in advance, minimizing confusion and last‑minute disputes.
Additional Secretary C.P. Tripathi underscored the fairness of the exercise, noting that each applicant personally drew their slip, a move designed to eliminate any perception of bias. The live stream added an extra layer of accountability, allowing the public to witness the entire process in real time.
About the Anant Nagar Housing Scheme
The Anant Nagar Housing Scheme is a colossal urban‑development project spread over 785 acres on Mohan Road. Planned to house roughly 1.5 lakh residents, the master plan blends residential, commercial, and recreational zones into a modern grid‑pattern layout. The scheme includes about 2,100 residential plots, 120 commercial parcels, and more than 10,000 flats arranged across 60 group‑housing blocks.
A cornerstone of the project is its emphasis on affordability. The LDA has earmarked 5,000 buildings for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low‑Income Group (LIG) buyers, targeting over 25,000 beneficiaries. Additional units will be constructed under the national Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), further widening the pool of low‑cost housing options.
Infrastructure-wise, the development adopts contemporary standards: wide, well‑planned roads, underground power cables, and dedicated storm‑water channels. Around 130 acres have been set aside for parks, walking trails, and other green spaces, reflecting a commitment to environmental quality and resident well‑being.
An innovative feature is the proposed Edutech City, a dedicated hub that will host hostels, faculty apartments, and a suite of educational facilities. This enclave aims to attract students and educators, creating a self‑sustaining academic ecosystem within the larger residential landscape.
The LDA’s vision for Anant Nagar goes beyond bricks and mortar. By integrating affordable housing, modern utilities, extensive green belts, and a knowledge‑driven campus, the scheme seeks to set a benchmark for future Indian city planning. The successful execution of the lottery, marked by transparency and public participation, signals the authority’s commitment to delivering on that promise.
Anant Nagar Housing Scheme stands as a testament to Lucknow’s evolving urban fabric, promising a blend of affordability, convenience, and sustainability for thousands of future residents.
