Maruti new small car by Diwali, positioned below Alto

Maruti Suzuki is working hard to regain the market share which the company has maintained for the last 30 odd years since launch in the Indian market. Maruti in the current years has been battling the competition which has made the company introduce new models of existing variants and enter new segments.

Maruti Suzuki is developing a new car which will replace the ageing the M800. The car will is being developed on the Alto platform and will be powered by  the same 800cc engine which also does the duty on the current Alto.

Maruti Suzuki India is expected to introduce in the third quarter of this financial year a small car to replace the Alto, the country’s largest-selling car model. The company is aiming the Diwali festive season during which customers prefer buying new cars as it is considered an auspicious festival.

Petrol cars have seen a slump in sales in the recent times, but with low cost and higher fuel efficiency it will help the car maker take on the rivals like Hyundai Eon and a large chunk of the Nano sales.

Maruti will continue to sell the existing Alto and Alto K10.
