Mitsubishi Pajero Sport on 12 March launch confirmed

Yes It’s coming finally; the all new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be launch in India on the 12^th of March. The Pajero Sport will be powered by a 2.5 litre diesel engine which will have a power output of 178 Ps with a massive torque of 400 NM. The Power and Torque is certainly higher than its nearest competitor the Toyota Fortuner. Thanks to the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), the Sport is comparably fuel efficient with a mileage in the range of 12 kmpl.

Mitsubishi has been delaying the Pajero Sport in India for quite some time now. The Pajero Sport was slated for a 2011 launch, but due the Tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand the plans got postponed to 2012 March.

The Pajero Sport uses an All Wheel Control Super Select 4WD driveline which feeds maximum drive torque to the wheels with better grip. The Pajero Sport will come as a 7 seater with 3 rows of seats and the front seatbacks can recline completely to provide a flat surface together with the rear seats.

The Pajero sport is equipped with Active safety features life ABS and EBD. ABS keeps wheels from locking up to maintain control of the vehicle during hard emergency braking, preventing slipping and skidding. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) assists by redistributing braking force to the rear brakes as needed, enabling quicker stops even when carrying passengers and heavy loads. It also comes with Dual Airbags in the front.

The Pajero Sport will be launched initially as a CBU and later will start assemble operations in the Indian market. Now the price will be the grey area as the Sport will come in as CBU opposed to a CKD.

Will the Pajero Sport take on the Fortuner head on in terms of sales? Time will only decide..
