Audi to launch 3 new models in 2012, TT,A4 launch by end March
German car maker Audi will increase its portfolio in the Indian market. The luxury car maker will launch atleast 3 new models besides a refresh of the A4 sedan. The company also plans to expand production capacity at its plant in Aurangabad for rolling out two new products.
Audi India Director Michael Perschke: “The company will take a decision based on feasibility of the models for India. This year we have plans to launch Audi TT later this month followed by the much awaited Audi Q3 and the sporty Audi S6.”
Worldwide, Audi has plans to introduce 18 models, including A1 Sportback and Audi A3. Commenting on the capacity expansion in India, he said: “We have plans to add a new line at our Aurangabad facility by the end of this year. There will be an additional hall built for Audi which will have capacity for at least two more products.”
Audi unveiled the all new Q3 SUV at the auto expo which is all set to blaze in the small SUV segment. The Q3 will give some serious competition to the BMW X1 which has helped the Bavarian car maker to reach the top slot in the India luxury car market.
Audi also displayed the S6 sedan which is the sportier variant of the A6 sedan on sale in India. The S6 sedan will be launched by later half of the year. The S6 gets a four-litre, twin-turbo V8, combines ample power with low fuel consumption in keeping with the times.
Audi has seen phenomenal growth since its inception in India five years ago and today is the fastest expanding premium brand in the market. India is a key strategic market for Audi to further up the ante the company will also launch the new TT coupe.
The TT comes in mainly in two body styles: Coupe and Roadster. The Coupe will make its entry first in India.
