New Chevrolet Captiva to hit roads by March end
Chevrolet will launch the new facelifted Captiva in India by end of March or early April. Chevrolet showcased the all new Captiva at the 2012 Auto Expo. The new Captiva will be equipped with a new 2.2 Diesel engine.
The Captiva LTZ was shown at the Auto Expo which is now equipped with a Common Rail Direct Injection 2231cc 16C/DOHC with 186.5Ps@ 3800 rpm and 424 NM Torque @ 2000 rpm. The Captiva will get a 6 speed Automatic or Manual gear box with 5+2 flexi seating.
Adaptive All Wheel Drive, Electric Sunroof a new feature in the SUV, Infotainment & Bluetooth control on steering Wheel for added convenience, Rain sensing wipers and Remote operated Flip-up type tailgate glass are some of the new features which the SUV will boast about.
In terms of safety the new Captiva gets ABS with EBD, 6 Airbags, Descent Control System, Traction control System and Electronic Stability Program.
The interiors are spruced up with leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. Automatic climate control is standard on the top variant and the Captiva now also gets Cruise control. It also has a fresh new sporty and muscular exterior design and a jet-black interior.
Chevrolet will have to keep the price competitive. The Captiva will have to compete with Toyota’s recently launched Fortuner, Renault Koleos, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Pajero SFX.
The good news is that the Capitva will now be assembled in India unike the previous model which was bought in as a completely build-up unit.
