All new Linea in 2013, gets more sharper looks
The Fiat Linea is one of the best looking cars currently available in the market. It was launched globally in 2007 and due to the bad service network, it didn’t fetch great numbers in the Indian market.
The Tata alliance did breathe some life to the sales, but the numbers still weren’t adequate.
Fiat, unsatisfied with its progress in India has now decided to handle its operation on its own. And it looks like Fiat has already started taking things very seriously.
The Linea is expected to get a fresh look in 2013. The current Linea looks great, and has a very composed look to it. The new one however is completely different. It looks more muscular and aggressive. The upgrade embraces a new radiator grille, which gives the car great road presence. The front bumper gets new air intakes which look great and add a lot of appeal to the car. The facelift even includes new headlamps, which look similar but with an added tinge of aggression and a new bonnet; which now gets some design strokes.
The image of the new Linea was exposed by a European automobile magazine, which had spotted a few Fiat test mules around one of its plants. The car uses the CUSW (C-EVO US Wide) which is an extended version of the C-EVO platform used by the Alfa Romeo Giuletta.
The upgraded Fiat may even get a new engine line up, which will include the new 1.4 litre engine equipped with Multi-Air variable valve timing and a new 6-speed dual clutch transmission system. Price rise is obvious in such a scenario. The top end variant should easily cross the Rs.10 Lakh mark. The current segment leader, Verna, falls in the same price bracket and is surely going to face a lot of heat from the Italian brand in the future.
The new Fiat Linea 2013 will be unveiled globally at the Detroit Auto Show in USA in January 2012.
