New Hyundai Elantra to be the next big launch for India

After the launch of the all new Sonata in the Indian market, Hyundai will launch the all new Elantra which is going to be the next big launch from the South Korean car maker.

The Elantra will make a comeback in the India market after missing the previous generation. Hyundai had launched the ELantra in India in 2004 and then later discontinued it in 2008 completely. The fourth generation was not launched in India as the market did not very accept the Elantra. Hyundai had Elantra in both petrol and diesel engine options.

The 2012 Auto Expo again saw the New Generation Elantra make its comeback to the Indian market. Hyundai showcased the 1.6 litre with 130 PS version of the Elantra Sedan. The design continues Hyundai’s “fluidic sculpture” styling theme first seen in the 2011 Sonata.

When launched the Elantra will have to compete with the likes of VW Jetta, Skoda Laura, Chevrolet Cruze,Toyota Corolla and Renault Fluence.

Hyundai exited this segment and did not launch the previous gen Elantra which will be priced in the range of Rs. 10-13 lakh. “We would fill the vacuum in the premium car space with two new cars lined up this year,” Hyundai Motor India Director (Marketing & Sales) Arvind Saxena.

The launch is expected to be around June, as conveyed to us at the time of the Auto Expo. Hyundai
