Piaggio to launch Vespa scooters in India on the26th of April
Piaggio’s Vespa made a grand appearance at the Auto Expo 2012. The Original, iconic Vespa is all ready to create a whole new luxury segment in scooter category with the launch of scooters on the 26th of April. The Vespa will initially be available in 35 main cities.
Vespa will first launch the locally assembled LX 125 a non geared scooter which will compete with the likes of Honda Activa and Suzuki Swish.
The Vespa LX125 scooter will be powered by a 124 cc engine, producing 10.26 Bhp of peak power at and 9.6 Nm of peak torque at 7250 RPM. The Scooter gets a CVT gearbox. The Vespa LX125 will be available in 5 colours namely red, silver, yellow, orange and blue.
Piaggio India has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Baramati for the production of the Vespa. The plan has an initial capacity of 150,000. The Vespa will hit Indian roads in April 2012 and will initially be available in 35 main cities.
